abu simbel - my favourite - absolutely amazing. no cameras allowed inside, which is fair enough as the colour is still here to some extent. inside there are 2 rows of giant statues - all ramsus 11 who had this built as well as the smaller one beside it for his favourite wife. the carvings/reliefs inside show battle scenes and are fantastic. we flew here and were up at 3 to get the earliest flight to beat some of the crowds. bus trip was the alternative, but 3 hours each way, and all the buses arrive together. we made the right choice. this is truely a wonderful place. this is the /?one of the temples that was moved when the aswan dam was built - that in itself is an amazing feat.
